Maher M. Anous, MD, FACS

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

anous

Dr. Anous is double ABMS board certified (Plastic Surgery and General Surgery). Dr. Anous' active career started in 1989 with a teaching position at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. The first seven years were spent as a full academician with a private practice privilege, while the last seven were dedicated to private practice with a clinical academic position at the Texas Medical Center. It is during those years that he did most of his charitable work overseas, serving the under-privileged populations of Mexico (five times); Brazil (once); Bosnia during its civil war (twice); and Russia (twice). Later on, he would also travel to Pakistan (twice) and the Middle-East (twice), but always in his reconstructive surgeon's mode. In 2002, he settled in Seattle, Washington, to dedicate all of his efforts to Esthetic Surgery, a field he had practiced since 1989. There, he founded first the Plastic Surgery Clinic in Everett then La Provence Esthetic Surgery and Medical Spa in the posh Seattle East Side district of Kirkland. Since then, he has operated on thousands of patients desiring cosmetic improvements in their faces and bodies. The results speak of his level of dedication.

Although versatile in all aspects of Esthetic Surgery, Dr. Anous is particularly proud of his innovations in two arenas: Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and Facelift. He has lectured extensively, both nationally and internationally, about the merits of his techniques in both fields. Other areas, specifically esthetic breast surgery, remain very close to his heart and he takes pride in his natural looking results.

He is a member in good standing of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) as well as several other societies.

Dr. Anous' career has been intimately related to the history of breast implants. When he joined the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine as Assistant Professor in 1989, one of his partners was the late Dr. Frank Gerow, the inventor of the modern breast implant. This early close association with the most knowledgeable person in the world regarding implants allowed Dr. Anous a wide exposure to all aspects of esthetic enhancement breast surgery, including the surgical management of failed surgery and the salvage of ruptured implants. Because he frequently covered Dr. Gerow's practice, Dr. Anous had also the privilege of examining the first generation of patients receiving the Dow Corning implant, including the very first patient to have undergone breast augmentation with the Silicone implant (1962). This is why, when the Silicone crisis of the 1990's hit, he was at the forefront of physicians receiving and dealing with the sequelae of the now defunct Dow Corning implant. This gave him an unparalleled experience in the post failed implant reconstructive and salvage techniques.

This tradition of excellence has carried on with the new generation implants. This is why Dr. Anous was one of the few plastic surgeons allowed the continuous use of the Silicone implant even during the moratorium imposed by the FDA (1990 - 2007). During his years in Seattle and as the owner of La Provence Esthetic Surgery Clinic, he dealt with an enormous number of complicated breast cases. This earned him the respect of his patients and colleagues alike. Since joining Beverly Hills Physicians in early 2012, his expertise has been put to the service of the Southern California patients as well as to the breast surgery population at large.
